SMUMN Application Process
To complete the online Saint Mary's University of Minnesota application, you will need the following:
- Official transcripts must be sent to Saint Mary's University of Minnesota Minneapolis office. (Office of Admissions, Saint Mary's University, 2500 Park Avenue, Minneapolis, MN 55404)
To start the online Saint Mary's University of Minnesota application:
1. Go to http://smumn.edu/apply and create a log in account.
2. You will be emailed a link to verify your Saint Mary's University of Minnesota account.
3. Begin the application by selecting the Graduate option.
4. Scroll down to the Graduate School of Education, and pick M.A. in Education as the program department.
- Be sure to select the Custom Specialization option for the courses offered with Educate Pathways. *Please do NOT apply to the MA in Teaching.
- You will also be able to note if you are seeking a master's degree or are non-degree seeking.
Note: You will be able to save and return to this application at any time.
5. Contact any college/universities that you have attended previously and have them send Official Transcripts to the SMUMN Graduate School of Education Office. (Students with international transcripts will instead need to have a course-by-course analysis and pass a language proficiency exam).
Note: Saint Mary’s University has updated its MA in Education Custom Specialization admission requirements beginning Fall 2025. A resume, personal statement, and references are no longer required for admission. While the online application system is currently being updated to reflect this change, your application will be reviewed without those materials.
6. After completing the application and submitting all documents, SMUMN will review your application for consideration. If you are accepted as a student, you will be emailed a numeric Saint Mary's University of Minnesota Student ID in the welcome message.
